Families of Mat-Su Central,
October is shaping up to be a great month at MCS! From opportunities to explore real-world financial decisions to one of our favorite annual traditions, we're looking forward to connecting with families in the weeks ahead. As always, check out our full calendar and website for the latest updates.
Upcoming Events & Important Dates
- Financial Reality Fair - Thursday, October 15: Students will have an opportunity to explore real-world financial decisions, including budgeting, expenses, and the challenges of managing money. Keep an eye on our calendar for event details!
- Fall Festival – Friday, October 30: One of MCS's longest-standing traditions! Our staff and Student Government team up to welcome hundreds of families for games, trick-or-treating, face painting, crafts, and plenty of creative costumes. We hope you'll join us!
- Building Closure November 2–3: MCS will be closed to students and families on Monday and Tuesday for staff professional learning. There will be no Hybrid classes, advisor meetings, or other student activities in the building on either day.
Parent Grade Submission
The Parent Portal will open for grade submissions in mid-November. If you'd like to submit grades before then, please contact your advisor directly.
Hybrid Learning Updates
- Registration is still open! Some Semester 1 courses still have openings, and Semester 2 registration is available as well. Explore opportunities here.
- Missing a class? Please communicate directly with your student's Hybrid teacher about absences. Our front office does not manage Hybrid class attendance, so teachers are your best point of contact.
Keeping MCS a Great Place for Everyone
One of the things that makes Mat-Su Central special is our shared approach to education. Our building is a place where families learn, connect, and work alongside one another. A few friendly reminders help us keep it that way:
- Drop-off and pick-up: The circle in front of the building is reserved for active loading and unloading only. If you're waiting for your student, please use a parking space.
- Student supervision: Students in grades K–8 must have adult supervision whenever they are not in a scheduled class. This includes time spent in the library and other common areas. Younger students should never be left unattended.
- Noise levels: Many families use our building as a place to focus on their schooling. Please help us maintain a welcoming environment by being mindful of noise in hallways and shared spaces.
- Restrooms: Please help keep our bathrooms clean and ready for everyone by checking in with younger children and helping them use these spaces responsibly.
These small acts of consideration make a big difference. The beauty of MCS is that we share both the opportunities and the responsibility of creating a great learning environment. Thank you for doing your part!
Your Feedback Matters
MCS continues to grow and improve thanks to the creativity and insight of our families. Have an idea for making our school even better? Share your feedback here.
Honored to partner with you,
