Traditional Japanese Karate-Do Shito-Ryu. Non-competitive program with a focus on basic skills, self defense, manners, respect and self discipline. Ages 5 to 18.

Making Comics I & II - Learn the art of making comics. Students will learn to draw with clarity, design expressive characters, and integrate words in a visual format to build worlds and stories while exploring tools and techniques of comics past and present. Grades 6 - 12. Language Arts Through Comics - Develop reading comprehension, spelling, vocabulary, grammer, sentence structure, and other aspects of the English language through exploring the world of comics. Alaska Horse Ranch offers riding lessons for children and adults, ages 8 on up for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students in Western, dressage, jumping, and endurance. Pony rides (lead walkers) are offered for ages 4 and up - staff leads the horses. We also train horses, and owners in training techniques. In addition, all phases of horse care is available and/or boarding combined.

The Alaska Rock Gym is an indoor climbing facility. Wall height is 30 feet. The gym offers over 6000 square feet of textured climbing surface, a large boulder area and weight room. Classes are offered for kids, teens and adults in a variety of formats.

The mission of Scholastic Archery Association (S3DA) program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3D, indoor and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. The S3DA program usually runs with the school year with some summer activities. We will have practices every Monday for 2 hours. Practice will include training archery skills to new and advanced archers. We host as a state an indoor 5 Spot Tournament, 3D Tournament and Outdoor Target. There are National Tournaments the students may travel to as well. There are amazing college scholarship opportunities for the students.

I teach in person homeschool classes through AK Homeschool Classes. We are a hybrid program of homeschool and in person learning. We teach STEM classes with Lego and other bricks- and we make them move! Motorized builds including basic motors, remote control, early coding and robotics are the core classes i our curriculum. Classes are suited for a variety of ages, typically starting at 1st grade. Look for our Build at Home Kit 2 on our website. It is a great option for brand new brick builders who need more assistance or time to develop their skills before joining us in class.

Art classes for grades K-12 including but not limited to: art fundamentals, graphite, charcoal, acrylic, watercolor, and clay work. Classes are either on a 7- week quarterly schedule or a one time workshop.

Providing personalized one-on-one instruction for students in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, comprehension and math. All instruction will utilize a combination of science backed instructional approaches that engage students by using multi-sensory strategies to support students in becoming confident and independent learners. Suzuki method offered in voice, piano, and violin. Students learn initially through listening and ear training. When students become comfortable in foundations of the instrument they progress to reading music traditionally. Much of the instruction will focus the students ability to play with beautiful tone and musicianship. The repertoire begins with folk songs then progresses to classical or contemporary music. Students will also learn about concepts of music theory, music history and the composers of the music. Group lessons are included in the enrollment fee as they as essential for the student to foster performance ability and they are so motivational. Group lesson include the Orff-Schulwork approach and working with other musician's/ singers. Grades Pre-K to 12th are welcome. I am Affiliated with the National Association Teachers of Singing and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA)) and have choral experience in grades 4th and up.

Intro to Spanish, Grade levels 1-3: Students will spend class participating in songs, a short mini lesson, vocabulary games and activities, and role-play. Students will learn phrases and vocabulary they could use in everyday situations (greetings, asking basic questions, animals, colors, numbers,) and learning how to read and write basic words in Spanish.


Math Tutoring, Grade levels K-5: I develop a plan to help students with their math goals and support students with their selected curriculum. During sessions we incorporate fact practice, pre-teach new math concepts, and review homework/ tests.

I provide private figure skating instruction for recreational and competitive figure skaters. Students will be given the opportunity to test through the ISI levels, learn routines to music, perform at ice shows, and compete at local competitions. Off-ice lessons are also available to help build strength and balance, improve coordination, and increase flexibility. Ice skating encourages young students to learn how to set goals and achieve them, helps with focus, and can improve mental and physical strength. I also provide skating instruction to hockey players at all levels; focusing on edge control and how to maximize power. My goal in coaching is to encourage a love for the sport of skating, figure or hockey!

This will be a course for outdoors and fishing. We will go over outdoor safety, ice safety and fishing. How to pick and target species and what they like. We will learn about basic fishing skills and how to rig fishing poles along with how to make a simple piece of tackle. The kids will learn about how the tackle/hook works for the fish they are targeting. The students will learn about the tools involved in fishing. While we are fishing, we will have discussions on conservation and how to handle fish properly.

We offer dance conventions in Anchorage with industry professionals. We offer dance lessons from beginning to advanced for ages 6-16 in hip hop, tap, ballet, jazz, contemporary and musical theater.

Dancing Lights Yoga offers a variety of classes for all levels. The classes specific to Mat-Su Central School children are Children's and Teen Yoga. The Children's classes will begin with free style dancing allowing the children to move in whatever way feels comfortable to them and gets their wiggles out. There will then be a themed story time with books such as "I Like Myself", "Maybe", "What if?", etc. Stories that inspire thought and growth. Next, will be yoga where the little yogis bring breath work and movement together to bring strength and calming to the bodies and nervous systems. The class will end with a guided meditation to inspire creativity and learning. The Teen classes will consist of a theme mantra for all the class. Themes such as, "You are Enough", "You are Strong", Finding Your Inner Peace", etc. Teens will then learn the power of breath-work in calming the nervous system as well as the strength that comes when breath work and movement are combined through Yoga Asana. The class will end with guided meditation.
