Families of Mat-Su Central,

We hope you are enjoying the beautiful fall weather and savoring the colors before it all turns to snow! Our new school building is coming along nicely, and if you drive by, you can keep an eye on the rapid development. Enrollment has reached 2800 recently, so there is always something happening at MCS. As always, check out our full calendar here, and keep an eye on the website for the most up to date information. In the meantime, here are some important highlights.

Esteemed Visitors

  • Education Reimagined, a non-profit organization based in Washington DC, recently came to tour and learn from MCS’s unique model of learning. You can learn more about their work here.
  • MCS will host the Alaska State School Board on October 8 and 9. You can read the agenda here and consider attending some of the open sessions.

Registration After Oct 1

  • Do you know a family interested in attending MCS? Beginning October 1, we no longer have allotment available, but families in unique circumstances can still enroll with MCS. Encourage them to indicate their interest by completing this form and complete registration in ParentVue.

Reimbursement Timeline:

  • At this time, reimbursement requests usually take about two-three weeks to be fully processed at this time. You can help streamline the process by making sure you follow the steps outlined in this video and reviewing the FAQs for allotment. As always, reach out to your advisor with specific questions.

Vendor Highlights: At over 300 community instructional partners (full list here), it can be hard to keep up with the best fit for your family. Talk to your advisor and other homeschool families to learn more, but here are a few options we are featuring this month:

  • Impakt Gym offers youth fitness classes for students ages 6-17.
  • Knik Tribe provides high interest home school course offerings.
  • Love 2 Create in AK has all sorts of great arts and crafts opportunities.

Feedback: MCS thrives thanks to the creative insights from home educators. If you have any ideas for how we can improve our program, please share with us here.

Honored to partner with you,

Stacey McIntosh and Nathan Chud
