Class Description
Step away from the screen and into the forest! This class is all about Vitamin N (Nature). We’ll spend our time exploring the woods of the Mat-Su to see how the plants and animals change from the first chilly frost to the sunny spring thaw. This is a hands-on, feet-on-the-ground adventure where the forest is our classroom!
What we’ll do:
- Forest Feet: Learn how to balance, hop, and hike through summer mud and crunchy winter snow. We’ll keep our bodies moving and our hearts happy!
- Nature Detectives: Use your "super-senses" to explore the land. We’ll listen for winter birds, touch fuzzy moss, and look for animal tracks in the fresh snow.
- Wilderness Fun: We’ll practice building cozy stick shelters, learn how to stay safe near ice, and watch how the woods change as the weather gets colder.
- Staying "Stoked": Learn the secret to being a happy Alaskan—how to dress so you stay warm and dry while we play games like Forest Camouflage and snowy Broomball.
The Goal: It’s more than a hike—it’s about becoming friends with the forest. You’ll walk away feeling brave, strong, and ready to play outside in the Great North all year long!
