AP Psychology is an introductory college-level psychology course. Students cultivate their understanding of the systematic and scientific study of human behavior and mental processes through inquiry-based investigations as they explore concepts like the biological bases of behavior, sensation and perception, learning and cognition, motivation, developmental psychology, testing and individual differences, treatment of abnormal behavior, and social psychology.

Two versions of the course will be offered (meeting times are the same for both versions, but the AP Exam version will have an additional 4 classes by Zoom in April in order to review the content from the entire year in preparation for the AP exam in May):

Standard AP Class: Students learn the content, participate in activities in-class and on-line with some homework at home. This class is sufficient for a student who is trying to complete an AP class for graduation requirements.

AP Exam Class: This version is for students who are also interested in taking the AP Exam for Psychology in May in order to receive college credit for the course. Students will have some additional homework (FRQ practice primarily) in order to receive detailed feedback on how to get a high score on the AP Exam. These students will also have review sheets and 4 additional 2-hour zoom sessions for the class in April in order to review the content of the entire year before the exam.

Extra Zoom and In-Person classes: Due to this being an AP Course and the importance of meeting often enough to enjoy the content, but also learn it more meaningfully, there will be some classes by Zoom (the normal class time of Monday, from 1:30-3:30) and then 7 in-person special sessions in the Project Room on campus. It is understood that some of the in-person special sessions may interfere with schedules, I just ask that your student try their best to make it work since we will be covering normal content in those classes.

Most of the time, the class will meet in-person Mondays 1:30-3:30 in the auditorium on campus (with a ten minute break) for Semester 1 (September 16-December 9) and Semester 2 (January 6-March 31). Students will all be provided a syllabus that clearly lays out the meeting dates of the class.
