Families of Mat-Su Central,

We are in our new school home, and it’s beautiful! We hope to see you at an upcoming appointment, class, or event sometime soon. As always, check out our full calendar here, and keep an eye on the website for the most up to date information (like our prom on April 25 and our open house/picnic on May 9).

Important Information for New Building Move-In

Our new location is 2055 N. Stringfield Rd. Palmer, AK 99645. Make sure you arrive at the brand-new building that says “Mat-Su Central” on the entrance. We are located next door to Pioneer Peak Elementary, and some maps direct you to that school instead. Remember that Mat-Su Central is not a traditional school/building, so all on-site participation is optional, and parents/home educators are expected to partner with MCS staff to make sure kids are safe and well cared for. We thrive thanks to this unique partnership, and we want to keep it that way! Please refer to our previous email for more information about on-site activities.

Front Door Procedures

Please use the right side of the main doors to enter the building. For safety reasons, we need to leave the left side locked throughout the day. In an emergency, we have a button that can automatically lock the front right doors. Please only use the handicap buttons if you need them. These buttons open both doors for 20 seconds and it blows cold air into our front office.

New Enrollees in 2025-26

Do you know a family interested in attending MCS next year? The new enrollment form for next school year is now available on the front page of our website. You can also encourage interested families to attend one of our MCS 101 orientations at the new building.

Advisor Changes

With our enrollment constantly growing, we need to make a few adjustments.

  • You must register in ParentVUE by August 1 in order to stay with the same advisor.
  • We are shifting to K-5 and 6-12 advisors next year. This will allow families to stay with an advisor longer.

Library Overdue Notices

You may have noticed library bills/fees appearing in your email. This is part of a new integration between the library system and SchoolPay. Please return items you are not using, but feel free to connect with Katie Clark if you would like to renew or need further clarification.

Vendor Highlights

At over 300 community instructional partners (full list here), it can be hard to keep up with the best fit for your family. Talk to your advisor and other homeschool families to learn more.

Feedback: MCS thrives thanks to the creative insights from home educators. If you have any ideas for how we can improve our program, please share with us here.

Honored to partner with you,

Stacey McIntosh and Nathan Chud
