Event Description

Welcome to the exciting Birds of Prey STEAM workshop, where students will have the opportunity to learn about the amazing world of raptors and engage in hands-on scientific exploration.

In this workshop, students will learn about the different types of birds of prey, including hawks, eagles, falcons, and owls. They will discover the unique characteristics of each species and how they have adapted to their environment to become expert hunters.

Students will learn about the anatomy and physiology of birds of prey, including their feathers, talons, and beaks. They will learn about the importance of these features in the raptor's hunting techniques and survival.

At the end of the workshop, students will have the exciting opportunity to dissect owl pellets, which are regurgitated pellets of indigestible parts of prey such as fur, bones, and teeth. Using tools and techniques, they will explore the contents of the pellets and identify the bones of the animals that the owl had eaten. To aid in the identification process, students will use a vole bones chart to compare the bones found in the pellet.

Through this hands-on scientific exploration, students will learn about the importance of birds of prey in the ecosystem and how they play a vital role in maintaining balance in the food chain. They will also develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they analyze the contents of the owl pellets and draw conclusions based on their findings.

Don't miss out on this unique and exciting learning opportunity! Sign up for our Birds of Prey STEAM workshop today and watch your students soar to new heights in their scientific knowledge and understanding.
