Class Description
Grab your apron and your passport! In this hands-on course, we’ll travel the globe one bite at a time. Each week is a new adventure where we explore the connection between a country’s unique history and the delicious food found on its tables.
How it works:
- Session 1 and 2: The Cultural Map. Before we cook, we explore! We’ll dive into a country’s history, local traditions, and unique character. We’ll learn about the spices they grow, the stories they tell, and how their geography shaped what people eat.
- Session 3 (and maybe 4): The Test Kitchen. We put on our chef hats and bring those stories to life. Using what we learned, we’ll follow a traditional recipe to cook (and eat!) a signature dish from that week’s featured country.
- Dive into exploring the next country and repeat! The goal is to hit 4 to 5 countries
What students will gain:
- Kitchen Confidence: Learn essential skills like safe chopping, measuring, and following multi-step recipes.
- Global Awareness: Grow an appreciation for different cultures and the common bond of sharing a meal.
- Historical Discovery: See how events like trade, climate, and local legends influenced the world’s most famous flavors.
From the street tacos of Mexico to the dumplings of Asia, come hungry for knowledge and great food!
