Class Description
"Novel Perspectives" is a literature-driven language arts course designed for 6th-8th grade students who love stories or want to deepen their understanding of novels. Meeting twice a week, this class focuses on immersive novel studies, exploring 4-6 high-quality novels across various genres throughout the year. Since we meet two days a week, the structure centers on in-class discussion, deep analysis, and reading stamina, with an expectation of independent reading completion at home. Students will move beyond simple plot summaries to analyze character development, theme, author’s craft, and figurative language. This course emphasizes critical thinking, collaborative seminars, and literature-based writing, including literary analysis essays, narrative creative writing, and reflective journals. This class is available for readers and writers as a semester long class. If you love reading, register for both semester 1 and semester 2! This class is a supplement to your homeschool curriculum.
