Class Description
Step away from the screen and into the brush. In this immersion course, we dive deep into the changing face of the Alaskan wilderness. From the first frost to the spring thaw, students will explore the woods of to understand how local ecosystems adapt to our extreme seasons.
What we’ll do:
- Seasonal Navigation: Master the art of moving through the woods in everything from summer mud to winter crust with activities to keep your heart and mind healthy
- Stewardship: Develop a deep connection to the land through sensory observation, sensory awareness activities, and place-based ecological studies.
- Wilderness Skills: Learn shelter-crafting, and winter safety, tailored to the Alaskan climate.
- The Art of "The Woods": Practice nature enjoyment and education together while learning how to stay warm, dry, and stoked in any weather.
