Class Description

This course is designed to help students develop the practical skills needed for confident, independent living through a mix of classroom learning and real-world experiences in the community. Topics may include:

• Financial literacy: budgeting, saving and investing, credit, and taxes

• Household management: laundry, organization, basic repairs, and home safety

• Food and nutrition: grocery shopping, meal planning, and cooking basics

• Auto basics: car maintenance, registration, and insurance

• Medical and self-care: health insurance, appointments, and personal wellness

• Employment readiness: resume building, interviewing, and workplace professionalism

• Health and civic life: mental and physical health, digital citizenship, and civic responsibilities

Some learning activities will take place off-site in community locations to provide authentic, hands-on experiences. Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from these unique learning opportunities.
