Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is a reading program for Kindergarten -12th grade students that is fun for readers at all levels.  Visit the library for a list of titles for the 2016-2017 year. Students who wish to participate meet weekly and enjoy various book related activities. In Jan/Feb each year Mat-Su Central takes 3rd-12th grade teams to the district competition. For more information about Battle of the Books at Mat-Su Central, see Katie Conover (librarian). For information about Battle of the Books in Alaska, click here

Winter Reading Program
Let’s get excited about reading! Join us this winter (Jan-March) by reading 10 books, from 10 different genres (mystery, historical fiction, etc). Students who participate will earn a free book when they complete the reading challenge. Reading records are available in the library (or use your own paper).

Scholastic Book Clubs
Build your home library and keep fresh, exciting books flowing into your home year round. Families can purchase books online each month at a discounted price through the Scholastic Book Club program. Flyers are available in library and online. See Katie Conover for more information.

Scholastic Book Fairs
Twice a year (fall and spring) the Mat-Su Central Library will transform into a themed book fair. Books are available for purchase, at standard book store prices. The book fair supports our reading programs.
