MSCS Spencer Glacier Excursion

September 11, 2017 @ 8:15 am - 10:15 pm

Join Mat Su Central on an amazing field trip to Spencer Glacier! The Spencer Glacier Whistle Stop is a remote wilderness area that is only accessible by train. It’s also home to one of the most spectacular and visible glaciers along the Rail-belt: Spencer Glacier, a massive wall of ice cascading down the mountains to Spencer Lake. The station area at the Whistle Stop includes a roofed shelter & restrooms. Disembarking the train, we will be greeted by a National Forest Service Ranger and enjoy a guided 1.3 mi. nature walk along the trail to the overlook.

  • Itinerary: Arrive at MSCS at 8 AM. The school bus will depart MSCS promptly at 8:15 AM, we will arrive at the Anchorage train depot & then depart for Spencer Glacier at 9:45 AM. We will return to Anchorage at 9:15 PM and ride the school bus back to MSC, arriving between 10:15-10:30 PM.
Student Cost: $61 (price will be deducted from students allotment) Parents are welcome to attend. The adult cost: $123. Adults can pay Henry Henson, MSCS Accountant, by cash or check one week prior to the event.
