Molly of Denali
October 10, 2019 @ 9:20 am - 2:00 pm
Molly of Denali
Have you seen the new animated show on PBS called Molly of Denali? The cartoon features an Athabaskan girl named Molly and her family and friends from her village. Although the village itself is fictional, the themes of the show depict some of the values and culture of these Alaskan natives. This workshop will include 3 in-class workshops and a field trip to the Anchorage Museum. In class workshops will cover some of the history, culture, and present day life of the Athabaskan people including art, music, food, housing, transportation, and daily life. We will try our hand at some of the artwork, and practice storytelling – traditions that are a rich part of Athabaskan heritage.
